NVIDIA AI Factory in Armenia: Technological Breakthrough or Geopolitical Move?

The Armenian Firebird AI factory project represents a significant shift in regional computing architecture. The deployment speed—15 megawatts in six months—demonstrates the maturity of ready-made solutions like DSX AI Factory, where modular assembly replaces traditional ground-up design. Positioning through the "tokens per dollar" metric reflects a fundamental shift in AI economics: efficiency is now measured not just by GPU density, but by economic return per unit of energy.
The choice of Armenia is not accidental. The country offers competitive energy tariffs, a developed engineering school, and, critically, a neutral geopolitical status amid the fragmentation of global supply chains. For companies from the CIS region, this creates an alternative hub not directly tied to either Western or Eastern jurisdictions.
The technical architecture, with an emphasis on liquid cooling and dynamic resource management (iCOM CWM), indicates a transition to denser GPU configurations where traditional air cooling becomes a bottleneck. The integration of Schneider Electric and Vertiv confirms that power and thermal infrastructure is now viewed as an equal component of the AI stack, not merely a supporting system.
The planned 300 MW by project completion represents a scale comparable to hyperscaler regional hubs. For the region, this could mean reduced latency for AI services and the development of a local ecosystem around AI computing.
